Ontario Basque Club Obtains Large Grant for Historic Train Depot

Kinsman FoundationOntario Basque Club is proud to announce that we applied for and have received a generous grant from the Kinsman Foundation to replace the flooring in Ontario's historic train depot. The Ontario, Oregon, Basque Club, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, assumed responsibility for maintenance and supervision of the Ontario Train Depot from the Ontario Train Depot Restoration Committee on November 10, 2007. Through grants, donations, and their own labor, the Basque Club renovated the north portion of the main floor for use as a headquarters. They also funded the relocation of the Union Pacific Office to its current location. Subsequently, the Basque Club built a staircase and opened up the attic space, the largest portion of which is available for public use. To rent the depot click here.

Drexel Foundation Collaboration

We recently collaborated with the Drexel H.Foundation on a project called Rest, Repair, Recharge & Rejuvenate in Downtown Vale on the authentic Oregon Trail. The Basque club provided the text and graphic design for the informative panels on Basque history in the area.
